2021 Hip Hop Boot Camp

COURSE DETAILS 

The Hip Hop Boot Camp with support from AFRICALIA is an intensive two-week residential training aimed at conveying music industry skills to talented emerging hip hop artists across the Uganda. The training will focus on Songwriting Creative Process, Music Management, Body Percussion, Live Performance & Studio Preps, Financial Literacy, Profile Writing, Impact of Internet & Social Media on Performance Art, Audio Recording Sessions, Rap Ciphers, Personal Development, Embrace & Create Performance Platforms, a lecture on the Hip Hop Elements and UG Hip Hop Awards. Under the mentorship of 5 professional residential producers, participants will actively participate and record their own song compositions resulting to the production of a 10 track audio album.

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?  

The training targets 15 youths (rappers) between ages of 15 to 25 years. The participants must be practicing and active hip hop artists within their community (ies) with either recorded audio music, stage performance videos to supplement their application. Female hip hop artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

The selected participants are required to attend the full training and commit to the all the Modules. The local Transport costs, meals and accommodation will be covered by the training. Anything else not covered by the training will have to be covered by participants themselves. 

DURATION  

The training will take place July – August 2021. Please note that participants are required to attend the full 2 week sessions of the Training. 

VENUE 

The training will be held at Lunkulu Island in Mukono, Uganda 

TRAINER

The Training will be delivered by professional music industry players in various fields that will be announced later.

HOW TO APPLY?

You are required to apply for participation by completing and submitting the application form before 30th of April 2021 along with the following:

  • a profile/short biography (max. 800 words) with 2 recent pictures that will be used for publicity
  • a motivation for your participation in the training (max. 500 words)
  • sample of your work (2 mp3 songs)
