2019 Bayimba Music Training

COURSE DETAILS

The Course aims at grooming holistic musicians by equipping them with the knowledge to enhance and enrich their creativity. The modules are structured in such a way that musicians are taught the theory behind their practice which is then implemented in the practical classes. It is therefore imperative for participants to attend all scheduled classes and to do all assignments

The course will have 8 compulsory Modules that students are expected to take however for Module 5 (Main Instrument), each student will be asked to select one instrument to focus on for the course.

Each student shall be tested and accessed individually during and at the end of each trimester. The purpose or outcome of the program is to produce an individual who can read and write music with or without an instrument (with excellent technique), and understands basic music concepts.

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?

This training is targeting musicians with a keen interest in learning about music in theory and practice so as to improve on their versatility. The course caters for practicing musicians at different levels including beginners and more advanced performers.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Each student shall be required to own their instrument of choice aside from Piano students and Drum students who are required to have their own drum sticks. In addition the student will also be required to acquire instruction materials from the school. Each individual will be expected to attend all the classes. For the main instrument the student will learn in groups with an instructor and then each individual shall be required to do at least an hour of individual practice or exercises as guided by the instructor.

DURATION

This is a one year certificate course scheduled to run from July 2019 to March 2020. The Course will run in a 3 trimesters of (10 weeks) each year with a two weeks holiday every after each trimester. The day time Lessons are scheduled from Monday to Tuesday (9am- 4pm) while the evening class lessons are scheduled from Monday to Thursday (6.00pm -9.30pm) each week. The First semester will start on the 29th July to the 30th September 2019.

VENUE

The training will be held at the Bayimba Office in Ntinda – Factory Road Kampala Uganda (link opens Google Maps in new tab).

TRAINERS

The Training will be led by Bayimba Music teachers. Aloysius Miggade – Guitar teacher, Mukisa Johnmary – Harmony (theory) and melodic reading and writing, Mariam Namuyodi – rhythmic reading and writing , body percussion and drum teacher, Raymond Parwot – body percussion, plus voice, Floyd Israel Kayondo – piano teacher, Patrick Kayanja – bass guitar teacher.

FEE

Admitted students are required to pay a course fee of (300,000 UGX) per semester prior to course beginning. We accept payments through Cash or Mobile Money.

HOW TO APPLY?

Attend the Bayimba Music open day on (22nd and 23rd July 2019) at the Bayimba Office for consultations and registration. Alternatively apply for participation by completing and submitting the application form with a profile/short biography (max. 800 words) with recent picture(s) that will be used for publicity, a motivation for your participation in the course (max. 500 words) to email to johnmary@bayimba.org.
