2016 Bayimba Live Concert – Sound, Stage Management, Power Distribution & Lighting Training

Course Details

The training aims at equipping technicians to provide better quality live concerts for festivals and live shows. The training will focus on how to setup for live concerts from a technical point of view, ensuring that sound, stage management, power distribution and lighting are professionally implemented. Who is the program for?

The training is designed for novice and intermediate technicians (at least 2 year experience). The training is open to Sound Engineers, Sound Technicians, Lighting Technicians and Riggers

What are the requirement?

Selected participants are required to attend full session of the module(s). The participants will be required to cover accommodation, meals, transport and other costs not provided by the training.

Duration

The training will take place from the 12th- 18thSeptember 2016. Please note participants are required to attend the full day session of theTraining.

Venue

The training will be held at the National Theatre in Kampala Uganda

Trainers

The training will be facilitated by a professional Technical Director of Events Sound n Light EA Ltd.Asad Rajput and John OtienoOchaka, Audio Engineer.

ASAD RAJPUT

Asad Rajput, Technical Director, is a pioneer live sound engineer born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. On his return from the UK in the mid-70s, he worked in the family business repairing hi-fi and associated electronic equipment. Asad’s passion for music and especially African music led him to work as a sound engineer for a popular Afro-fusion band called African Heritage. Together with the African art and fashion company of the same name, they toured Europe and parts of Africa, offering audiences an exciting blend of fashion and music unique to East Africa. Asad designs, builds and restores audio equipment as well. He is the lead front-of-house engineer at ESL and has worked in a number of countries in East and Southern Africa on the technical support for live event production for major festivals. He has taken a team of Kenyan upcoming engineers to Europe for training with Ampco in the Netherlands from 2003 to 2008, He sees the need to upskill the next generation of live event technicians from Africa who understand African music as essential to develop the quality of music production on the continent. The ESL team has thus far had the pleasure of providing live concert services for major International artists – Sean Paul, Youssou N’dor, Wayne Wonder, Shaggy, Burning Spear, Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Angelique Kidjo, Ba Cissoko, Lionel Loueke, AyubOgada, Don Carlos, Black Uhuru, Lira, Hugh Masakela, Alpha Blondie, MoussaDiallo and many many more.

JOHN OCHAKA OTIENO

John Otieno Ochaka is an accomplished lighting, audio engineer, musician and producer who works with Alliance Francaise in East Africa for over 10 years working with numerous international and supporting local and upcoming artists. He has been a keen on supporting the up skilling of technicians in the region. He has also worked and trained people in various festivals around Eastern Africa.

Fee

The training is for free but selected participants are expected to cover their own costs, that is, meals, accommodation, transport and anything else not covered by the training.
