2014 Music Training Programme

Course details

The training is designed to enable practicing musicians to develop their musical skills so as to capitalize methods of learning, creating documenting and exploiting music, equipping them with body percussion, rhythmic reading and writing, introduction to harmony, analytic skills development, as well as improvisation skills.

Who is the training for?

The training is targeting practicing musicians who would like to discover and widen their scope, budding composers, instrumentalists and vocalists, pop and fusion song writers, music teachers looking to explore methodologies, expert musicians and producers wishing to expand their musical vocabulary so as to communicate better with fellow musicians.

Duration

The training will be carried out in two separate sessions of 2 weeks (10 days) and 3 weeks (15 days). The first session will take place from 11th to 22nd of August 2014 and the second session from 3rd to 21st of November 2014.

Venue

The training(s) will be held at the Kampala Music School.

Trainers

The training will be facilitated by Kaz Kasozi (Music Director at Bayimba Cultural Foundation) and Anita Assasira (Assistant lecturer at the Department of Performing Arts and Film, Makerere University). Guest speakers/tutors will join to speak about their experience in the music industry and give practical lessons.

Fees

Auditions are free of charge but, once selected, the fee for the full 2014 Music Training programme (5 weeks of training) is 350,000 UGX, to be paid prior to course beginning.

How to apply?

You are required to go through a competitive audition process. Auditions will be held on 16th of June 2014 in the Green Room, National Theatre, Kampala from 9am to 5pm, and to register for auditions by completing and submitting the entry form together with the required additional information by 1st of June 2014.
