2014 Arts Journalism Training

Course details

This training is designed to stretch the thinking and practical skills and techniques of the arts journalist. Participants will be introduced to the latest practical tools, theories and hands-on techniques to story-making and production.

Who is the training for?

The training is targeting arts journalists, journalists, journalism interns, journalism students, bloggers who want to become experts in writing and reporting about the arts.

Duration

The training will take place from 15th to 21st September 2014 and will be organised in conjunction with the 7th edition of the Bayimba International Festival of the Arts.

Venue

The training will be held at The HUB and the National Theatre.

Trainers

The training will be facilitated by Ole Tangen Jr., an American journalist, part-time lecturer in journalism at Makerere University and Simon Musasizi, a senior journalist with The Observer focusing on arts and culture.

Fees

The training is free of charge. Participants are expected to attend the whole period of the training and bring their own writing and production materials (laptops). Participants will be provided with food, drinks and transport allowance and a compensation payment for articles published/ production items made.

You are required to apply for participation by completing and submitting the application form together with additional required information by 30th of June 2014.
